The IPT Product Certification Body was created to combine the vast and plural excellence of the Institute's 39 laboratories, in addition to more than 120 years of work at the service of São Paulo and Brazil technology and development.

With the privileged connection with several businesses sectors in the country, the opportunity to create an accreditation body at the Institute was understood. Uniting the technical excellence of the IPT laboratories, new parameters were created for some of the technological solutions already practiced by the Institution. Thus, the excellence of IPT would also be used for a new step, helping to consolidate the safety and effectiveness of these products for the market.

What is a Certification?

Certification is a process in which a third party body assesses whether a particular product or service meets a technical standard, based on management system audits, the production process, complaints handling, sample collection and product testing in  qualified laboratories.

When in compliance, certification is granted to the company, which is able to use the IPT's certification logotype on they certified products, guaranteeing consumers that the production is controlled and the product meets a certain technical standard.
The certification of a product can be related to Performance, Safety, Health and Environment. The certification process is classified as Voluntary or Compulsory.

concept

Visual concept:

To create a relevant visual identity among other classic and relevant certification brands, but also easy to recognize, I first made an extensive research of national and international benchmarks, and studied the mandatory standards and technical details.

The main goal was to embody the entire identity of the IPT corporate universe with a close eye to details, legibility and proper application on product labels and surfaces.

The first report was complex, with four pages of technical content, totally focused on medical community. The page 02, which has the result of the whole analysis hasn't a clear understanding, followed by an interpretation that is also full of complicated terms to be understood by a patient. The patients were out of decision-making when they received this document: copies were sent to doctors and patients simultaneously by e-mail and home.

Logotype versions:

The logotype was designed for the different application needs, both for the printed certificate and for the certification labels attached to the product. Various legibility tests were implemented on all versions of the logotype, in addition to tests with the logos of the other regulatory bodies known, respecting the rules of application of these organizations.

The writing of the report was facilitated, so the patient can understand the complete content, with less technical and more accessible words.

Patient and exam information is in larger font size for easy recognition. The result appears just below, highlighted by color and with a list of genes and materials that were analyzed, followed by a colored square. Writing was made easier with less technical words.

This information is separated by "high risk" and "low risk". I used colors to highlight the difference: to conceptualize high risk (concept of danger) I used red, and green to conceptualize low risk (concept of free). With the addition of color beside technical information, understanding is immediate.

This new report was automated, thus helping doctors who report exams to be faster and easier, using a software built at Mendelics.

Certificate versions:

There were two types of certification: Mandatory and Voluntary. To distinguish these categories, I used the main colors of the IPT logo to use the graphic characteristics already known to the Institute.

Compulsory certification is regulated by law or ordinance. Mandatory products in regulations can only be marketed after certification.
In voluntary certification, the decision is made by the manufacturer or importer who seeks to add value to his product using an IPT brand, thus representing a competitive advantage in the market in relation to its competitors.

Product labels:

In mandatory and voluntary certifications, there were many important and relevant technical details that showed the relevance and quality of the products. This required the application of some details, such as watermarks, codes of certifiers and requesting company, linking security to the material. In this part, I used again the colors of the main IPT logo, thus closing a solid corporate communication.
